This summer I had the privilege of attending the Parkour Summit at Parkour Visions in Seattle. One of the presenters showcased techniques to maintain safety and control in a fall or bail situation. Although we train to be as proficient and in control as possible, falling is unavoidable. The safest route, then, is not to ignore the possibility of a mistake ("I must be perfect!") but rather to develop the skill set necessary to control our bodies when things go wrong. We should always have an escape plan for everything we do. If my foot misses the edge on a jump, I should already have a plan for dealing with the slip. Let's learn to think through a series of possibilities with every movement. Keep training safely, RocPK!
